This previous year has been monumental for PSKC. We’ve witnessed both devastating loss and the birth of a new place. It’s been crazy, it’s been stressful, it’s been epic. Through it all, the heartbeat has remained strong, steady, and supportive. That heartbeat is you…the member; the single reason we exist. On this day I want to express my sincere gratitude to you..the member.

We closed on the new place in July and since that time until we got the new place opened, I tried to work a full time job that requires frequent travel, I tried to operate a gym, and I tried to open a new gym, all at the same time. When I wasn’t on the road for my “real” job, many days I would start at 5am and wouldn’t be done working until 11pm. 6am classes straight to work, then back to the old gym and/or new gym to help get it ready, coach classes, and find sometime to train somewhere.  I say “tried” because I didn’t do any of these things that well. I was often short tempered and distracted with my focus other where when it should have been…solely on you guys…the members. The ones responsible for making everything happen. I knew my fuse got short a few times, and sometimes I wasn’t very pleasant to be around. For that I apologize…

Here’s a little secret; I had NO clue what it would actually take to buy an old building, gut it, renovate it, build it out, get permits, and have it pass it inspection. Not to mention do all that with a limited budget. I was flying blind only guided by inexperience and enthusiasm. Needless to say, I learned the hard way. The amount of shenanigans that was endured to get the new gym open could a fill a book. I made every mistake you could make and there were times when I wondered if I could actually pull it off. That last week I barely slept, got a staph infection on my leg, we bombed our first occupancy inspection, I didn’t know if we could pull it off. It wasn’t looking good and self doubt started creeping into my head. It was during those times that some well placed boots were placed to my ass. Real friends don’t coddle you and tell you everything is going to be all right, real friends motivate, challenge you, tell you to “get your shit together”. To the owners of those boots…THANK YOU.

Luckily, I was blessed to be lifted up by an amazing crew who selflessly gave their time, effort, and energy to assist both at the old gym and new gym during this time. These guys got shit done. They didn’t wait for direction, they found a way. It’s an unbelievable feeling to be surrounded by people who are intelligent, talented, determined, and action oriented. These people are your coaches, and I’m blessed to call these people my close friends. If the members are the heart, the coaches are the backbone.  I’m inspired by how much they give and their passion for you all. These people are a blessing; coaches/friends…THANK YOU. You guys you mean the world to me and PSKC would never happen without you.

In addition to the coaches, it was the members that did the heavy lifting. No matter the enormity of the task, whether it was tear down 4000sq ft of offices or hauling tons of field turf, you were there with smiles on your faces happy to help out. A platoon of members led by Handyman armed with drills, saws, paint, screws, and hammer took a cluttered warehouse into a first class awesomeness manufacturing facility. Member made..member proud.

It should be evident I’m beyond grateful for all your help with the new building. But more importantly I’m thankful for the everyday interactions I get with you guys. From well before dawn to well past dusk my life is enriched by you all. I get to see parents set the example for their children, I get to watch relationships develop, I get to see smiles, hear laughter, smell sweat, and witness impossible become possible. I get to see the small smoldering ember within a person burn into a bonfire. I literally watch self confidence manifest.I see people work very damn hard. I see the American spirit embodied.  I see lives changed, happiness discovered, health gained….I get to see this….every….single….day. THANK YOU for this.

3.5 years ago I could not have imagined we’d be where we are today. There was no plan for the future, just hoping to make rent. Every single bit of success and growth we’ve had is directly attributed to the quality and caliber of people who make up PSKC. You are my inspiration, my motivation, my passion. You are my fuel to be the best coach I can be. THANK YOU for the gift you give to me. You have given me purpose, the best gift you could give a man.

As I look into the future, I have no clue what will happen. What I do is that I’m f@cking motivated to give you all what you deserve…the BEST.

Enjoy the time you have with your family and loved ones and remember those down range protecting our freedom.

P.S. In case you were wondering I’m not thankful for tampons in the toilet
